Lesia Mashchak

  • Started at Kalyna Kids / St. Martin Sadochok: 2004

  • Other child/classroom experience: Total of 33 years of teaching. Grades: elementary, junior high, high school in Ukraine; St. Josaphat Sadochok in Edmonton; Ridna Shkola in Edmonton

  • Hobbies/interests: Reading, embroidery, camping, hiking, fishing

  • Favourite things about working at Kalyna Kids: “Wonderful students, supportive parents, nice team of teachers. I am very happy to work with kids and to teach them. I love my job very much.”

     

Natalya Shyyan

  • Education & Certification: Zaporizhzha Municipal Pedagogical College; Zaporizhzha State University; Child Development Supervisor Certification (Government of Alberta).

  • Started at Kalyna Kids / St. Martin Sadochok: 2004

  • Other child/classroom experience: Teacher of Ukrainian Language and Literature at a school in Ukraine for 5 years; summer camp Scout Leader.

  • Hobbies/interests: Reading, listening to music, baking.

  • Favourite things about working at Kalyna Kids:  “I love to work with children at this age because they are open, curious, inquisitive – it is a lot of fun to work with them and they also give me something to learn from them.”

     

Oksana Kravets

  • Education & Certification: Elementary School Teacher; Physical Education and Sports Instructor; Specialist of Physical Rehabilitation; Child Development Supervisor Certification (Government of Alberta).

  • Started at Kalyna Kids / St. Martin Sadochok: 2008

  • Other child/classroom experience: Special Needs Teacher Assistant with Edmonton Public Schools.

  • Hobbies/interests: All kinds of sports, dancing, reading.

  • Favourite things about working at Kalyna Kids: “I like to make kids happy and help them to learn new skills in growth and fine motors, as well as new knowledge about the world.”

     

Alla Semenko

  • Education & Certification: Art College - Belarus; Academy of Publishing - Lviv, Ukraine; Child Development Assistant Certification (Government of Alberta).

  • Started at Kalyna Kids / St. Martin Sadochok: 2011

  • Other child/classroom experience: Ukrainian Drama Club for 5 - 15-year-old children (9 years).

  • Hobbies/interests: Embroidery, theatre, folk music.

  • Favourite things about working at Kalyna Kids: "It is so fun to work with the children; they love to learn and it gives me so much pleasure to teach them. I enjoy using my art background to help the children with new arts and crafts."

     

Natalka Bogdan

  • Education & Certification: Tavrida National University, Ukraine; Child Development Assistant Cerfitication (Government of Alberta).

  • Started at Kalyna Kids / St. Martin Sadochok: 2012

  • Other child/classroom experience: In Ukraine: Kindergarten teacher, Junior High and High School language teacher; in Edmonton: operating a Russian Saturday School and Summer Camp since 2004.

  • Hobbies/interests: Reading

  • Favourite things about working at Kalyna Kids: “I was a Sadochok Mom for 5 years, when my oldest kids went there. They absolutely loved going to Sadochok; games, crafts, tons of toys, attentive teachers, friendly atmosphere, celebrations of all kinds – lots and lots of fun! Now when my youngest visits Sadochok, I cannot make her leave. So it just seems so natural for me to return to our wonderful Ukrainian Playschool and offer my services.”

Oksana (Ksenia) Shoykhet

  • Education & Certification: Teacher in Preschool Institutions with Right to Teach the English language, Junior School Teacher, Teacher of the English Language and Literature. Child Development Worker Certification (provisional, Government of Alberta).

  • Started at Kalyna Kids: 2016

  • Other child/classroom experience: English Teacher at a school in Ukraine for 7 years; Teacher at Russian Saturday School since 2008.
